These short answers help engineers confirm whether a fitting, flange or certificate requirement belongs in the RFQ before sending drawings.
MSS SP-25 is the marking standard for valves, fittings, flanges and unions. For pipe fittings and flanges it is normally checked together with the product standard, material grade, heat number, manufacturer mark and MTC traceability.
JIS B2220 covers steel pipe flanges used in Japanese projects. When replacing or quoting JIS flanges, confirm pressure rating, facing, bolt pattern, material grade and whether the project needs EN 10204-style material certification.
ASME B31.1 is commonly used for power piping such as boiler external piping and power-plant systems. ASME B31.3 is commonly used for process piping in refinery, chemical and industrial plants. Final selection follows the project design code.
ASTM A234 WPB is a wrought carbon-steel fitting grade for moderate and high-temperature pressure piping. It is commonly used for elbows, tees, reducers and caps matched with A106 Gr.B pipe and A105 forged flanges.
EN 10204 3.1 MTC is issued by the manufacturer with test results traceable to the batch. EN 10204 3.2 adds independent buyer or third-party inspection witness, which is often required for critical EPC, pressure-equipment and offshore projects.
RT is radiographic testing, UT is ultrasonic testing, MT is magnetic particle testing and PT is liquid penetrant testing. The exact percentage and acceptance criteria must follow the drawing, ITP and applicable code.
